Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I’m looking for a specific photo. Can you help?
You are welcome to send us your requests, however, due to the large number of auctions we list each week it is very difficult to locate an individual picture of interest. We recommend that you set up a weekly automated eBay search to quickly scan our listings. That way you’ll never miss a photo of interest.

Q. Are the photos that you sell unique (ie. one of a kind)
It is virtually impossible to claim that any photograph is one of a kind (unless one has been in possession of the original negative continuously since its creation). Unlike other collectibles (sports cards, coins, stamps, etc.) there are no production runs, no sets, no population reports, no records of how many prints were made from a single negative. So it is very possible that multiple photographic prints exist of any given image. On very rare occasions, we even see multiple prints of the same image within our collection. That being said, the vast majority of our photos are unique within our collection, and many have been lost to the public for decades.

Q. Why are CGC items more expensive than similar non-CGC items?
CGC items we have submitted to CGC to be certified, graded and preserved in sealed archival sleeves or cases. This service greatly increases the long term collector’s value of the collectible but unfortunately the service comes with a price. Of course, as collectors, we think it’s worth every dollar. The cost for this service is what you see reflected in the higher listing price.

Q. I bought a CGC item but don’t want the holder. Can I remove it?
Absolutely. The holders and cases are sealed on all four sides but are not attached to the enclosed item. The seals can easily be broken to remove the enclosed item without damage. Please note: removing a photo from a CGC holder will void the authenticity guarantee provided by CGC and will make your photo non-returnable.  We recommend leaving the holder intact to maintain the value of your purchase and protect your photo.

Q. Can you declare a lower value on the customs form?
All international orders are marked with the invoice value paid. Please do not ask us to break the law by declaring a lesser value on international shipments.

Q. What payment methods do you accept?
We accept PayPal, Master Card, Visa, checks, money orders and cash. Orders paid for by checks and money orders will be held until payment has cleared our bank. Though we will accept cash (US dollars only), we do NOT recommend sending cash - buyers who choose to send cash do so at their own risk.

Q. Do you license pictures for reproduction?
You are purchasing a single vintage photograph as a collector's item only. No rights for reproduction or commercial use in any form whatsoever are given or implied. We are working on a use management program to be available soon.

Q. How do I pay for my purchase?
We ask that you use our secure checkout site, powered by Channel Advisor, Inc., a certified eBay Solutions Provider. This system helps us handle our rapidly growing order volume with both speed and accuracy, providing our customers with the best service possible. Each of our eBay listings has a Checkout Now! button just below the item description. If you are the winning bidder, simply click this button to pay. We also will send you an email with a checkout link that does the same thing.

Q. Can I combine multiple wins to save on shipping?
Absolutely! In fact, we allow customers to combine 2 consecutive weeks of wins to lower shipping costs. Sorry, we do not allow combining non-consecutive weeks. To combine orders, you should wait to checkout until all the auctions you wish to combine have closed. If you are purchasing Buy It Now items, simply click Buy Now and confirm your intent to purchase, but do not click the pay now button. Once all auctions have closed, you can checkout using the Checkout Now! button in any of your ended listings, or use the checkout/claim link in one of the emails we send you. We'll take care of the rest!

Q. One of my items doesn't show up in my shopping cart. What do I do?
During peak times, it may take up to 30 minutes for eBay to send the auction information to our checkout server. Please wait a little while and try again. If it has been several hours since your item ended and it still does not show up in your shopping cart, please contact us at sales@mmgphotos.com.

Still have questions?
Send us an email at info@mmgphotos.com and we'll do our best to get you an answer quickly!
